Intro

Embrace is my first interactive project, designed to incorporate sound and interaction to support international students or those living away from their parents. The goal is to help users ease feelings of homesickness and experience a sense of companionship through engaging with Embrace.

This group project was completed in June 2024, with my contributions including brainstorming, concept development, form design, electronics (using Raspberry Pi), and coding in Python.

We used a Raspberry Pi 3A as the main component, with an accelerometer to detect tilting movements and a capacitive touch sensor to sense touch interactions.

 

Additionally, we applied conductive paint to the device's surface, enabling users to activate the device simply by touching it. This setup creates a responsive and interactive experience, enhancing user engagement with intuitive controls.
